FAQ
Forklift scale — frequently asked questions
The questions buyers ask most about hydraulic on-board forklift weighing. If your question is not covered here, contact us and we will respond directly.
How accurate is a hydraulic forklift scale?
Typical accuracy is around ±2%, provided the system is installed correctly and the operator weighs at a consistent reference height each time. That's well suited to in-process weight checks, overload prevention and stock or shipment control. For certified billing or very fine tolerances, a legal-for-trade load-cell system is more appropriate.
Which forklifts is it compatible with?
It fits most hydraulic forklifts, since it reads pressure from the lift cylinder line rather than relying on special forks. That includes common brands such as Toyota, Hyster, Linde, Still, Jungheinrich and Caterpillar. Send us your make, model and capacity and we will confirm hydraulic access for your specific truck.
Do I need to change the forks?
No. Unlike load-cell weighing forks, Forklift Scale Systems keeps your original forks. A pressure sensor taps the hydraulic line and the display mounts in the cab — so you don't lose any lifting capacity.
How long does installation take?
A typical installation takes about 1–2 hours: mount the display, fit the pressure sensor, mark the weighing height, wire power and signal, then tare and calibrate once against a known weight.
Is it legal for trade?
No. Forklift Scale Systems is designed for in-process weighing, overload prevention and internal stock/shipment control — not certified commercial billing. If certification is a requirement for your application, we will state this clearly and direct you to the appropriate type of system.
Can it warn me about overloads?
Yes. An optional overload warning module adds an audible and visual alarm that triggers when a load exceeds a limit you set for the forklift's capacity — a simple way to protect equipment and operators.
What power does it need?
It runs on the forklift's own vehicle power — 12–24 V DC depending on the model — so there's no separate battery or charging routine to manage.
Can I keep records of weighings?
Yes. The PT 120 Pro touchscreen indicator adds weight totalising, printed tickets, operator selection and vehicle plate entry, so you can keep internal records of what was weighed and when.
